Flavored Stevia

Before the holidays, I got a fantastic package full of NuNatural goodies.
I first discovered NuNaturals through Heather’s blog and I haven’t looked back. I didn’t even like stevia before I tried NuNaturals. This stuff was a total game-changer for me and helped eliminate artificial sweeteners and Splenda from my diet.
When I saw they had a new line of flavored liquid stevia, I was pretty excited. The vanilla flavor is my absolute favorite (ALWAYS in my cupboard) and NuNaturals added  lemon, peppermint, and orange flavors to their range and sent some over for me to try.
I like to think of the flavored stevia as a combination of an extract and a concentrated sweetener and I love incorporating them into my cooking without adding sugar, alcohol, or calories.
I regularly use the Vanilla flavor in coffee and oatmeal, but I recently tried a couple drops to my french toast batter. The dish had a hint of vanilla and the french toast browned up without burning (sugar often burns in a hot skillet).

What better time to try something peppermint than during the holidays? I received three packs of Shakeology in my November KLUTCHclub box and I found a recipe on the Shakeology website for “thin mint treat”.  The recipe was simply the chocolate flavored shake with a couple drops of peppermint extract, water, and ice. I used the Peppermint flavored stevia and some Xanthan Gum for thickening and texture.

This tasted like straight up dessert. I thought “thin mint” was a generous description, but this combo didn’t disappoint.

The lemon flavored stevia has actually been pretty versatile. I have mixed it into greek yogurt with unsweetened coconut shreds for a delicious snack, added it to my homemade salad dressings, used it for asian style marinades, and even created a new Brussels Sprouts obsession.

I haven’t opened the orange yet….ideas?

What flavor stevia would you like to see? I think maple or cinnamon would be delicious. How about cake batter?

Favorite Fruit? I am going to go with grapefruit or strawberries, but I have developed a love for lichis after living in South Africa.

*I was sent the NuNaturals products free of charge, but the opinions are all my own.

I don’t think I could ever pick a favorite fruit, there are too many that I love. Berries, grapes, watermelon, strawberries. My mouth is watering! :D

I would think orange would be pretty versatile, like the lemon, but just a bit sweeter! I’d use it first in Greek yogurt probably! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen/heard of a cake batter flavor from some company… I’ll see if I can find it!
My favorite fruit would probably be pears and practically all citrus!

I LOVE nunaturals stevia! The vanilla is my favorite. I also have orange and lemon and no idea what to do with them… mostly the orange…

I have never heard of nunaturals stevia but the thin mint treat looks really good. Maybe for the orange you can put it into greek yogurt or a smoothie?
