What I wore on Holiday

Somewhere along the line I picked up the word "holiday" for vacation and it stuck. Another thing that I can't shake is my holiday wardrobe. I got married in 2010 and bought a couple nice things to wear on our mini-moon and now it's 2013 and I'm still rocking them. I have one shelf in my closet with bikinis, kaftans, and vacation wear and it makes packing a breeze.

During the day, I wore a swimsuit and some kind of cover up, and sometime toward the evening I would shower (hair washing was ad hoc) and put on something respectable.
Dress is from Bloomingdales....some weird brand I've never heard of. I find this dress confusing, but it's comfortable and lightweight.
Christmas Eve Dinner I put on this Etro Dress (previously worn HERE) and attempted to do something with my hair.
This is the epitome of cheap fashion. Leopard shirt, H&M. White Shorts, Old Navy. Belt, C.Wonder. I also did a fishtail braid (I learned HERE) and taught our butler, Sinita.
Another bargain...Wrap Dress from Target (Merona brand). I also got the bracelet from one of the vendors on the beach for 8 dollars. #Winning

Above is a tiny sliver of my Missoni bikini which I got in 2008 and still wear on the regular. It was expensive, but I love it and it's a classic. Below is a similar print, but is NOT Missoni.

This is a beach cover up from Accessorize (I think they have it in the US)  in the Heathrow airport. I don't remember the exact price, but I think it was about 25 pounds. As far as I'm concerned, it looks pretty Missoni-esque and you cannot beat 25 quid. Fake Missoni = Fissoni?
Another affordable outfit. White lightweight shirt, Kardashian collection from Sears (not my proudest moment). Navy Shorts, Old Navy. Belt, C.Wonder. Gold Clutch, Lily Pulitzer.
Ahh...I love this dress. I got it at Calypso in NY for my mini-moon in Mexico. It was actually a maxi-dress, but I had it altered and added a ruffle hem. Truly one of a kind...

Mini-Moon @ Rosewood Mayakoba, June 2010
I packed VERY light, which meant there was plenty of repeating outfits. Apparently I also decided to rock my shorts "Mom" style and pull them up past my belly button.

Do you shop for vacations/holidays? I used to, but I haven't purchased a single item for my last two trips. I am not too proud to repeat outfits like a boss. Next trip I am buying a couple new swimsuits because it's time.
Do you prefer skirts or shorts for warm weather?

Those are some gorgeous outfits! And holiday sounds so much better than vacation.

Loved this post and how you styled you hair differently per occasion! I actually prefer dresses in warm weather, especially on vacation since they usually pack easier and are more kind on sunburned skin :)

The last time I bought clothes for a vacation was for our honeymoon in 2007. But I haven't been on a tropical vacation since then. Also I generally prefer skirts for warm weather. But I prefer skirts over pants too. Just more flattering and easier to fit ... I find with shorts/pants you have to really search for something that fits well and is comfortable, skrits/dresses are so much more forgiving.

I'm in LOVE with the Etro dress. LOVE.

I'm a big fan of skirts and dresses in the warmer temps. I have the worst time shopping for shorts... so I just... don't... :p

dresses are so forgiving and easy. It took me SOO long to feel comfortable in shorts

Shorts Shopping is right up there with bathing suit shopping....or cleaning the bathroom.

Yes...and pick your outfits for India! I imagine India is tough because it's freaking hot AND they are a modest society. When I was in Thailand, I wore lots of knee length skirts and tried to wear modest tank tops.

My only request is that you wear a sari and photograph it.

My friends who have been to Mauritius rave about it. I keep saying we'll go next time to get to Africa. However, since we are located soooooo close to the Caribbean, I can't hardly rationalize going halfway across the world solely for sand and sun! =) Only if tacked on to another local, like Asia to Tahiti, or S, Africa to Mauritius! Although, boy, the flight is still not that short from the coast to Mauritius!

Love your vacay outfits. I am a big fan of shorts, would wear them all day every day if I could. I made a promise to never even look at the Kardashian collection but that top is pretty cute...
