Funny how life changes. I used to really love shopping for clothes, but I realized my focus has changed. Now I find myself browsing Crate & Barrel, Gilt Home, and shiny appliances and going to Whole Foods and Home Depot on the weekends. When did this happen? Is this nesting? I didn't get the thrill of registering for all the home gadgets when we got married since I was living abroad, so I'm thinking this is latent satisfaction.
My theory with home/cooking/cleaning/decorating/managing a home is learn as you go along. Ask your mom, google it, or look on Pinterest, and you will figure it out. Even domestic divas like Martha had to start somewhere...
Recent tidbits (because sharing is caring)...
1. Kyocera knives. My husband read about these and pointed them out at Whole Foods, but they were pretty pricey. When I saw them on Gilt, I snatched up a duo. I didn't really get what was so special until I used them. LOVE! They are lightweight, sharp, and easy to clean. READ HERE about the benefits of ceramic knives.
3. Luxurious Candles. I'm obsessed. I need to have one in every room of my house and I like to have one burning after I cook to clear the food smell. All candles are not created equal. I grabbed this one at Target this past weekend.
6. I'm trying to get some art on the walls. I was trying out some layouts...
7. I went on a cleaning/organizing binge last weekend. I took everything out of the drawers, cleaned the, and then re-stocked and organized. Feels. So. Good.
Now back to getting our apartment in order....we have a house guest this weekend!

2. Le Creuset Individual Serving. When I bought these, I figured I would rarely use them, but their little size and cuteness got the best of me. Luckily, I have found ways to use them all the time. Cooking for two involves dividing recipes and making small servings these are fantastic. The go from stove top, to oven, to fridge. One of my favorite things about them is how they hold heat. While I'm prepping dinner, I fill these with hot water from our kettle to warm them up, and before serving I dump the water and fill them up with dinner, and it keeps the food extra toasty warm. Cute and functional.
4. That is the Rusk Speed Freak. If you are not interested in forking over the dough, DO NOT TRY IT. Once you experience this wonderful hairdryer, you will not be able to go back. This baby probably saves me 10 minutes every time I blow dry my hair. #winning
5. Help me! I'm trying to eliminate harmful chemicals and additives from our kitchen and the idea of aluminum in my baking soda got into my head. Clabber Girl doesn't advertise "aluminum free" and has Sodium Aluminum Sulfate in the ingredient list. I bought the Rumford and tossed the Clabber Girl, but the internet has mixed opinions. Apparently beyond the health implications, it also tastes better. Are both brands aluminum free?

...& the next thing I knew, I won a seriously chic 'LOVE' print from Madebygirl. Decor destiny.

8. Ebay central over here. I have been aiming to sell 1-2 items per week. If I don't use it/wear it, I'm selling it. I'm clearing out with hopes of doing some shopping for Spring Break in mid-March.
9. I couldn't resist this deal from Costco. I don't remember the exact price, but it was the same price as a normal sized cinnamon (like $3?), so why not? Please tell me other people get cart happy at Costco. Luckily, my eating plan advocates lots of cinnamon (HERE is why).

I don't know where I would put it, but I'm crushing HARD.
Do you have a standing mixer? What color? If not, what color would you choose? I like the colors, but I'm scared to commit to something bright since I plan on having this for years to come.
Kitchen accessory you don't know how you lived without? I have a couple mini-whisks that I got out of cuteness, but have found some many uses for them. I also really love my kitchen scale because I can save time instead of using measuring cups.
Impulse Costco purchases? The cinnamon...those black frames in #6 (2 are ikea).

I know what you mean by getting excited over home decor, or kitchen accessories rather than clothes these days. I recently picked up a mini duo of those cake spatulas/silicone scrapers from William & Sonoma, and thought they were perfect for our apartment. They're a nice bright fun blue color too, with wooden handles. Pricy but worth it.
I think I want a crockpot next. I don't know if I'd use it like everyone else does. I don't like mushy foods!
I have a red KitchenAid mixer and I love it! It is large but I actually use it all the time, it makes baking easier and cleaner as I usually only have one bowl to clean.
I use so much cinnamon it's ridiculous. I LOVE it!
I have a white KitchenAid mixer and I absolutely love it. My mom bought it used off of Ebay for me for Christmas a few years ago. I can't imagine not having one now. I also have a ceramic knife which cuts everything like butter. I don't know how I ever did without good knives.
I bought a Cuisinart mini chop and I use it ALL the time- it's basically a small food processor. It's great for making batches of pesto, hummus, and chopping garlic. And it's so cute and small that it takes up minimal space on my counter. Highly recommend it!
i love my kitchenaid! of course all i make with it is cookies, frosting, cakes, and healthy stuff like that.
Hi, just curious how much are you looking to sell the LV? Thanks!
I have a tangerine stand mixer! I actually haven't opened it yet since we're remodeling our kitchen. It's going to all white because all my kitchen stuff is colorful. Think French country kitchen!
I can't live without my coffee maker. :)
Our dishwear is Fiestaware, and I looooove that we can stick it in the oven. Individual baked oatmeal!!! Also we have a standmixer. My parents never had one, so I didn't know the wonders of it, but my in-laws did, so my husband insisted we register for one, in blue (a dark blue), because we registered for everything in blue (seriously - plates, blankets, sheets, throw pillows, towels ...) Anyway, our friends went in on the standmixer for it and I looooove it.
The Kitchen Aid is the best thing ever, I use mine all time. Baked Challah & Pavlova from it this week already. Mine is in white. Wanted the pink but just thought white the way to go, as it goes with everything & if we move it just works in any kitchen. It is definitely worth the investment.
I love those Kyocera knives! I have two and use them religiously. As for your baking soda quandary, I've been using Bob's Red Mill Baking Soda and find that it works great! I found it for pretty cheap on Vitacost:http://www.vitacost.com/bobs-red-mill-baking-soda-gluten-free-16-oz-1?csrc=GPF-PA-039978003911&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw=&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=039978003911&gclid=CJfQxpGOzbUCFYXc4AodZFAAEg
