Recent Randomness & Questions

Busy doesn't even describe my life right now, so a big thanks to Katie for giving me a no-brainer post. I have SOO much I want to share about my life right now, but I simply don't have the time to sit down and collect my thoughts in cohesive thoughts and corresponding photos.

So this Liebster business... Katie explains it best HERE.

Random is a very accurate way to describe my thoughts and my life, so this comes naturally.

1. This photo is bad quality and doesn't even show my outfit, but my legs have never looked so good (for me). Even if it's an optical illusion, I wanted to post it. What is wrong with me?

2. I'm going on Spring Break at the end of the month. Who ever thought that would happened after undergrad? How do MBA students do Spring Break? A group of us are going HERE. I cannot wait for warm weather and a week with my favorite people.

3. I talk a lot, but when someone asks me what my blog is about I suddenly am at a loss for words. What is this thing about?

4. I am a very selfish cook. My favorite person to cook for is myself. My second favorite person to cook for is anyone that sings my praises.

If I'm cooking for myself, sometimes it is too random to post, like this spaghetti squash concoction above.

5. I had a friend come to visit me in Chicago this weekend and I finally put away my nativity set from Christmas. My excuse is that Jesus is such a big deal that his birthday can be celebrated year round.

6. I have an 18 miler on the agenda for tomorrow and I am really, really nervous. Come back and see if I live to tell about it.

7. I rarely open a recipe book anymore and I am not impressed.

8. I had a couple BIG life lessons last week about being judgmental jerk. I was actually so incredibly disgusted with myself that it made me feel a little down in the dumps and blue. The only thing I could do was learn from the situation and move forward. I am still a work in progress and this was a big reminder that I need to check my thoughts about other people.

9. Ever since this chic blogger posted her honeymoon, I have been drooling over this resort in Tuscany.  We are planning an overseas holiday in August, but Italy seems to be twice the price during August which is not ideal. Any other suggestions for places I NEED to visit that will be semi-affordable, mind-blowing, romantic, chic, fashionable, and cultural?  We were originally looking at Europe, but now we have been looking into South America and Asia.

10. I still don't get the Harlem Shake. Am I the only one that doesn't find it funny?

11. I really, really used to hate my name when I was little. Now I don't even think about it. I am who I am...my parents had their choice with my name and I'll have my choice with my little ones.

Now for Katie's questions:

1. What’s your biggest goal for 2013? I have my eye on a sub 1:50 half marathon.
2. What’s your favorite way to relieve stress? I have a series of gratitude exercises I do that seems to put everything back in perspective. It's a combination of prayer, asking for guidance, feeling genuine gratitude for my life, and putting everything into perspective.
3. What’s your favorite beer? (or drink) I try to like beer, but it's not happening. My favorite drink is champagne, followed closely by a big, bold red wine.
4. Workouts-morning or night? Morning. My stomach is sensitive so working out after a couple meals is asking for trouble.
5. What’s your biggest motivator? Knowing that I have all the opportunity in the world and making sure I capitalize and experience life to the fullest.
6. What type of blog topics would you like to read about more on Live Half Full? I love Chicago stuff.
7. What’s your favorite season and why? Summer. I love the hot weather and eating outdoors.
8. Any fun trips planned for 2013? Two Florida trips in the next month, a potential California trip towards the end of April, Wisconsin for the marathon, and still planning for summer....August will be the big one! Our 3 year is in June, so I wouldn't object to doing a Charleston weekend.
9. What’s your favorite current Television show? We are watching Friday Night Lights...Love it!
10. Do you celebrate anniversaries with your significant other? Usually just a weekend away or something. No presents, just cards.
11. Do you cook dinner ever night? I typically cook dinner 5 nights a week.

My Questions:
1. What's your dream job?
2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself?
3. What US city is at the top of your travel list?
4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs?

I'm not tagging anyone, but I encourage everyone to answer the questions above in the comments section. In case I haven't told you, I really love comments.

1. What's your dream job? I would love to work in marketing/brand management in the hotel industry

4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? Yes!

Love your honesty... It's refreshing.

I have yet to officially see the harlem shake video that tipped this whole thing off. I have seen other versions, and I'm not impressed. Wait, it's supposed to be FUNNY?!

I never really got into PSY's gagnam style either. Once I heard what he said about U.S. service members, I lost all respect. He disgusts me. My rant for the day. Goodluck on your run... You will rock it!

What a treat to see your post this morning! I'm addicted to your blog :)
1. What's your dream job? I'd be happy to replace Samanta Brown for The Travel Channel :)
2.If you could change your name, what would you name yourself? I woudn't change my name.
3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? Miami.
4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? Sometimes.

I struggle with always finding something positive to think about people, so don't be too hard on yourself. My best friend gave me her tip: every time something bad comes to her mind about someone, she has to come up with one positive thing about them too. It really helps you check your thoughts.

My dream job would be to be a dermatologist, because I love popping zits (I do realize this is not all a dermatologist does).

Good luck on your run! You can do it :)

I don't think the Harlem Shake is funny either but then again, I'm not big on YouTube in the first place.

1. What's your dream job? Neonatal Nurse Practitioner -- I wouldn't mind being a food and travel writer on the side.

2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself? I like my name.

3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? Tough question! Probably Denver but I always love going to San Francisco.

4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? No -- I'm not into it. It's like when they turn books into movies. I'd rather just imagine the book (or blogger) the way I want to...does that make sense?

Oh and go heels! (and no this is not a joke, I'm a UNC fan trapped at Duke)

Kelly Janowski said...

I love spaghetti squash, too! Yum.

Sierra said...

yes! Go Heels. A UNC win makes for a happy household over here. I love the way you described a vlog! very true

Sierra said...

You and me both Jenny (about the zit comment).

Sierra said...

Thanks! that is very motivating to push me to sit down and put together some posts. Glad you enjoy.

Sierra said...

I haven't seen this rant...I'm going to have to look because I previously enjoyed his dancing

Sierra said...

Stop what you're doing and book a trip to Charleston. Do it.

Your legs do look fantastic, and I don't even feel wrong flirting with you on your blog. HA.That's really funny about you talking a lot; I don't talk a LOT, but when it comes to my blog I go on and on and on like it's my child. It is my child! I admire you so much for recognizing times you have been judgmental. I try to be more mindful about my thoughts on other people and quick judgment. Whenever I was little and I said something mean about someone, my mom would make me immediately correct myself by saying something nice about that same person. I try to apply that to all parts of life. XO

1. What's your dream job? - If I could suddenly have all the knowledge without having to go through all the school, I'd be a medical examiner.

2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself? - I think more people should be named Jezebel even if it has negative connotations to a portion of the population. It's just such a pretty name!

3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? - We're homebodies so we don't really like to travel, but I'd love to spend some more time in Denver.

4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? - Not usually

If you are traveling to Europe definitely look into going to Barcelona! My family went there last year because we wanted to go somewhere no one had been to yet and we absolutely loved it! The architecture was really cool, the food was great, and it's right on the Medditeranean. Although it might be a little hot in August, I think everyone should see it!

I love vacations! My bf and I are going to central europe this year (prague, vienna, budapest) and our second option was thailand/vietnam. Someone recently told me that Croatia is really beautiful and I've added that to my list. Maybe Bali? As for your questions -

1. What's your dream job? Planning vacations ... but only for myself and then going on them. Maybe take over for Rick Steves or Samantha Brown. Truthfully I like my job now, but it would be perfect if I had about 3x more vacation and then 2x my salary to support all the extra travel.

2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself? I wouldn't change my name, I love it. I stress about not being able to find a name for my kids that they'll like as much as I like mine ...

3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? Hmmm ... I've been to a lot of US cities, but Hawaii (any city in Hawaii) is a big missing destination. I'd like to spend more time in Chicago as well.

4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? No, I only watch videos from beauty bloggers that are demonstrating things. Watching videos takes way longer than reading so I don't spending the extra time watching, I'd rather read.

Chile is suppose to be amazing but I am pretty sure its opposite seasons, so it would be winter there. I've heard Thailand is a great trip. Europe is tough in August because its holiday time, so everyone is traveling. I did Barcelona last August, though, and absolutely loved it!

1. What's your dream job? I would love to do something with food and traveling. Writing? TV show?
2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself? I really love my name and couldn't picture it being anything else.
3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? Definitely Seattle.
4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? Yes! I find it so fun to put a voice to someone's words.

2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself? Claire. Or Carolina.
3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? NYC. Always. (Followed closely by Charleston, SC.)
4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? Sometimes - depends on the blogger and/or topic.

Sierra said...

I hear you on the present wrapping....I also love present shopping

Sierra said...

You MUST do the Savour food tour in Seattle. It was a trip highlight for me last year

Sierra said...

I hope you like Prague...I studied abroad there and am dying to go back. You are about the 7th person to mention Croatia, so that is becoming an option. My Dad LOVEs Rick Steves and always talks like, "Rick says....", like he knows him or something.

Sierra said...

Hot doesn't bother me in the slightest. Spain is in the runnings...cheaper and the culture is awesome

Sierra said...

I would like your name to officially be changed to Loop Looks. We have looked at Denver a couple times for a weekend away...I haven't been since like 2002

Moms know best! Flirt away.... it's a long distance relationship!

Lennie doesn't mind? Haha.

My Questions:
1. What's your dream job? Travel consultant/writer/critic OR pastry chef (would need schooling first!)
2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself? though I too hated my name as a child (since it was mispronounced more often than not -- Bryan, Bern, Byron, the list goes on) I do appreciate its uniqueness now. if i had to choose a new one at this moment i honestly dont know what i'd choose!
3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? visit a friend in austin or aspen/denver area.
4. Do you watch when bloggers do vlogs? yes, really like them. just saw one today of a closet tour. probably creepy that i like vlogs?!

Thanks for answering my questions. Now I'll return the favor!

1. What's your dream job?- I really love my job, but I think I would like to eventually help people more!
2. If you could change you name, what would you name yourself?-hmmm. I'm so used to my name I'm not sure- I used to hate spelling my last night but I fixed that and married an Adams. ;)
3. What US city is at the top of your travel list? Currently, I'm wanting to go to New Orleans and Savannah, GA!
4. Do you watch when bloggers do blogs? Sometimes, but not all the time. Usually I read my blogs during my commute, so I have to have headphones on to do so.

Ush said...

Oh that's awesome! if you have any recommendations for Prague, I'd love to hear them. I feel like Croatia's star is on the rise recently as I've seen it referenced a lot recently; the person who mentioned it to me is actually from Bosnia and used to go there as a child so that was not a "trendy" recommendation. I LOVE Rick Steves! Samantha Brown annoys me, but I would still like her job.

Ush said...

I awesomely used the word "recently" twice in one sentence ...

I still don't get the Harlem Shake either. Matt tried to explain it to me and after I was just all "It's stupid."
I used to dislike my name because people would mispronounce it or misspell it, but now I love it.

Hi lady! I've been following your blog for quite a while and I'm so impressed! Awesome work getting all those miles in! Rob and I are getting married in August and looking for the perfect honeymoon...so if you find that semi-affordable, mind-blowing, romantic, chic, fashionable, and cultural vacay destination, I want to hear about it :) We initially wanted to do a safari -- if timing doesn't end up being an issue and we take that route, I will definitely be contacting you!

Kim said...

I also do NOT understand the Harlem Shake thing, so do not feel alone in that.
