Remember when I went off the deep end checking labels on personal products? Yep, still happening.
Deodorant is a tough one. Still working on that one...
Anyways, Jessica Alba decided that between having a perfect body, successful career, and millions of dollars, she wanted to make a non-toxic and chemical free line of cleaning, personal, and baby products. Between having babies and making movies, she founded The Honest Company. (<---That's an invite link).
I knew about the company for a while, but didn't decide to try it until I got the 411 from my best friend who is a new mom. She was the one that originally introduced me to the EWG database, and she is my chemical free, non-toxic role model. She said I should order the sampler when I got home. Done and done.
Sampler (free trial) was ordered (just pay $5.95 shipping) and it arrived with generous sample sizes of the body lotion, laundry detergent, healing balm, hand wash, and body wash.
It also comes complete with a list of chemicals and toxins that are NOT in the products, so you can rest assure that the products you are using in your home and on your body are 100% safe.
I knew about the cleaning products, but I was surprised to see the whole range of items The Honest Company offers.
Over the past week, I have tried everything in the trial except the laundry detergent (I am keeping the small size for a trip) and I'm a fan. They body wash, lotion, and hand soap all have a very light scent, nothing overwhelming or dominating. I have been loving Vasaline Spray & Go Moisturizer, but after seeing its rating on the EWG database (6- Details HERE), I decided I wanted to find something a bit more natural next time. The Honest Company's face & body lotion is a 0 on the EWG database, plus feels light and absorbs into the skin quickly. I went through the sample is a couple days and immediately went online to see what the deal was with ordering more.
I was a little confused about the "bundle" that is offered. I assumed it was a pack of their best selling products that was sent to your house every month and the other products not in the bundle could be purchased separately. I was mistaken. There is an "Essentials" bundle, but you can switch out the product and make your own custom bundle with the exact products you need. You get 5 products of your choice for $35.95 and you can add 3 additional products for 25% off. I filled my bundle with laundry detergent, dish soap, toothpaste, lotion, and a multi-surface cleaner (shown below).
My household is only my husband and myself, so I anticipated that I would order a bundle and then cancel my subscription because there would be no way we could go through all the products in a month, so after I got notification that my bundle had shipped, I called to cancel. The customer service was fantastic and explained that I could pick how often I wanted my bundles shipped, so I wasn't committed to having it delivered every month. I was able to pick a date at the end of November for my next shipment, so I will have plenty of time to go through the products and decide what I need in my next bundle. The flexibility is awesome and I'm excited to try some new products. Fingers crossed that these chemical free goodies are winners.
Any chemical free or natural products you can rave about? I am always on the lookout for recommendations since natural products can be hit or miss.
